Twm Twp - Twmpath (2002 Wales / Bretagne) @320

Twm Twp is a Welsh dance band based in Brittany. The tunes on this CD are all traditional and the colourful arrangements build upon the classic Welsh folk sound with a rich combination of instruments, bringing in elements of Dixieland jazz, brass band music and the swing and drive of drums and percussion.
By the way, Twm Twp (name of a dance, Mad Tom in Welsh) is pronounced 'toum toup'... The band plays for concerts and dances all over France, and in Brittany, and increasingly in Britain (Sidmouth festival, Dolgellau Sesiwn Fawr, Towersey...) and other countries (including the big Rudolstadt Dance Festival in Germany in July 2005). They offer dance and instrument workshops as well as dances and concerts adapted to different audiences, with great audience participation. The contrast between the more traditional instruments (flutes, piano, accordion, ) with instruments often associated with jazz or other musical styles(trombone, tenor and soprano saxes, drums, darabouka, bouzouki), gives the whole sound a great bite. Great to listen to even if you don't dance!
