As one of Sweden’s best known and innovative folk music bands, Nordic has continued for the past ten years to enrich their sound and inspire their audiences. On November 9th, 2016, they released their third full-length album “Collage”. A work of art drawn from their palette of new compositions in a range of everything from poetic waltzes to Brazilian samba. A few new interpretations are also featured, including a serene version of Frank Zappa’s “Blessed Relief”. Here we hear yet another example of how Nordic has refined its concept; To let their sound filter through a musical sensibility deeply rooted in groove, poetic tones and their inexhaustible playfulness which forever keeps the music vital and relevant, both for themselves and their audience.

On the album we also find “Nordic Symphonic Suite” a specially composed work which is one of the fruits of the celebrated collaboration with NorrlandsOperan’s Symphony Orchestra last fall. The original ten year repertoire of Nordic’s own characteristically innovative compositions firmly grounded in traditional Swedish folk music has been arranged for symphony orchestra by Karl-Johan Ankarblom and given new life.
